BMus(Hons)/BA(Crim) 2018,

AMusA (Distinction) Violin 2018.

Artist's Background

Commencing violin studies aged 5, Daniel has extensive experience as a performer.
He has and continues to play in orchestras and groups that have taken him across Sydney, China and Europe, under the baton of some of Australia’s and Europe’s most distinguished musicians. Daniel also plays violin in the string trio dubbed ‘Stringphony’. Started in 2013 with fellow university colleagues, the group specialises in live classical music entertainment for weddings, birthdays, fundraising initiatives and other special events. A long-time member of the UNSW Orchestra, he made his solo debut with the Orchestra in 2016 performing He Zhan Hao and Chen Gang’s Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto.

As a conductor, he has been fortunate enough to receive instruction from Lyn Williams OAM
(Gondwana Voices), Steve Williams (DEC Arts Unit) and Professor James F. Keene (University of
Illinois). Participation in a 2015 Australian Band and Orchestral Directors Association (ABODA)
conducting course saw him conduct the Royal Australian Navy Band. From 2013 to 2015, he served as the Assistant Conductor of Symphonia Jubilate; a community youth orchestra in Inner-Western Sydney. Currently, he serves as the Conductor of the University of New South Wales String Ensemble (UNSWSE, 2016-), Conductor of the UNSW Medical Music Society (MMS) Orchestra (2018) and the Concertmaster of the UNSW Orchestra (2018).

In 2018, Daniel graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of
Music(Hons)/Bachelor of Arts (Criminology) degree where he was awarded 1st Class Honours. Whilst at university, he studied violin under Stan Kornel and Adrian Keating and was awarded his AMusA Diploma with Distinction.
