Artist's Background

Sophia studied cello with Thomas Tsai and piano with Natalia Ricci. Some of her orchestral experiences include Hong Kong children symphony orchestra, the Art’s unit, SBS youth orchestra, NSW Youth Orchestra and SCM symphony orchestra.


In 2016 end of year house concerts, Sophia conducted the orchestra performing H.C. Lumbye’s Copenhagen steam railway gallop. Sophia has participated in large scale choral and orchestral works including singing Britten’s war requiem with SCM, Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the SSO and Bernstein’s Mass as part of SCM centenary performance.


She proficient in chamber music playing as she has played in many different combinations of ensembles including string quartets, piano trios, piano quartets, piano quintets,  various baroque and tango ensembles. She plays regularly in gigs such as weddings and other events.



As a Teacher...

Sophia quickly adapts to her teaching style and method to her student’s needs. She gets along well with young students, and she is patient and encouraging with all students.
